David Warther Carvings represent one man’s dedication to create a body of artwork for the benefit of the visiting public and his native community.
David Warther’s work is a collection of intricately carved miniatures that depict sailing ships from ancient Egypt, circa 3000 B.C. to modern times. The collection, now numbering over 80 ship carvings, is a highly educational exhibit of maritime history. When on public display, David’s exhibit of carvings has been seen by visitors from around the globe who have been inspired by the striking beauty of his artwork.
Carving from antique ivory and ebony wood, David’s works are designed using blueprints and drawings furnished by maritime scholars and researchers worldwide. Visitors are especially intrigued by the ivory rigging. Each line is made of ivory that has been hand filed to seven thousandths of an inch (.007″) in diameter and then masterfully applied to the ship carving. David developed this hand filing and sanding technique for making “ivory threads” at the age of 13, and has perfected it over the years.

Baylor Beach Park is located north of Tuscarawas County Ohio. They have 60 campsites (water, electric and primitive) in additions to picnic shelters, swimming and miniature golf.
Just outside of Tuscarawas County, Historic Roscoe Village is a = beautifully restored 1830’s canal-era village offering living history tours with costumed interpreters, hands-on activities, quaint shops, casual dining, the Montecello III Canal Boat, and the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum.
Tucked in the rolling hills of Ohio’s Amish Country, The Farm at Walnut Creek offers a peaceful way to enjoy a taste of life over in Holmes County, Ohio. Experience feeding the exotic animals (our favorite are the giraffes) or simply kick back on the porch of the farm house and watch life happen at a slower pace.
Zoar Village was founded in 1817 by a group of German Separatists seeking religious freedom. In 1819, to survive and pay for their land, they formed the Society of Separatists of Zoar, a Christian Communal Society. Due to pressures from the outside world, it disbanded in 1898. Today, visitors can revisit the 19th Century at this German-style village. The historic district abounds with restored private homes, shops, and ten buildings open to tour by the Zoar Community Association through an agreement with the Ohio Historical Connection. Specialty group tours, bus tours, luncheons and dinners in historic buildings available.
The Zoar Wetland is located in northern Tuscarawas County near the historic Village of Zoar. It is a natural wetland ecosystem with a 30-acre shallow marsh and 50 acres of woodland. Our volunteers maintain two miles of trails and all other interpretive features.
Zoar’s first schoolhouse, the Zoar School Inn was built in 1836. This historic building offers four rooms, each with a private bath. Whirlpool tubs and gas fireplaces are in three of the rooms. Camp Tuscazoar was founded more than 100 years ago by Scout leaders who recognized the beauty and history of this area. Today, under the guidance of the Camp Tuscazoar Foundation, the camp remains a popular outdoor location, drawing large numbers of weekend campers, hikers, mountain bikers and horse riders each year.
The camp covers more than 800 acres and is used by a wide variety of groups for short-term camping, day camps, youth retreats, ecology projects, and other activities. Campsites, cabins, adirondacks, RV sites, an amphitheater and a dining hall are available for daily or weekly rental.
Built in 1902, the Garver House Bed & Breakfast boasts original hardwood floors, seven stained glass windows, a grand staircase, a formal dining room, and comfortable sitting rooms. Three charming bedrooms offer central air, private baths, cable television, and wireless internet access.
