
There’s something magical about a summer afternoon in Tuscarawas County—especially when the community comes together to celebrate. On Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, you are invited to a free, family-friendly celebration on the grounds of the Performing Arts Center at Kent State Tuscarawas, honoring America’s 250th birthday in a truly memorable way.
Enjoy a Summer Picnic (12:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
The celebration begins outdoors at noon on the lawn surrounding the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center. Bring your favorite snacks, spread out a blanket, and enjoy a relaxed picnic with your community. The inside of the PAC will be open in case of rain.
- Free ice cream will be served for all attendees—a treat for kids and adults alike.
Adding to the fun, a Benjamin Franklin impersonator will be at the picnic area:
- Children can meet him and receive free $2 bills—the only U.S. currency featuring the signing of the Declaration of Independence (on the back). *Free $2 bills will be given to children. While supplies last.
Live Performances and LEGO® Landmark Showcase (2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
As the afternoon continues, the celebration moves inside the Performing Arts Center, where music, entertainment, and creativity take center stage.
- From 2:00 to 4:00 PM, enjoy live performances:
- “The Many Faces Old Glory” – an engaging storytelling program
- presented by Vane Scott
- EnRichMent – a lively steel drum band
- Hall of Fame Chorus – a traditional barbershop ensemble
- While enjoying the performances, guests can also explore LEGO® landmarks of Tuscarawas County, built by local students in a county-wide competition. From historic sites to parks and schools, these imaginative creations showcase local talent and community creativity.
This event is the perfect way to enjoy a fun family outing in Tuscarawas County while celebrating America’s 250th birthday. Best of all, this free, public event in New Philadelphia, Ohio is open to everyone—making it easy to gather, celebrate, and make lasting memories with neighbors and loved ones.
