Heirloom Plant Sale at Zoar!
The heirloom plant sale to benefit historic Zoar’s Bimeler Museum on Saturday May 19th from 8:00 amt o 4:00 pm at the Historic Zoar Sewing House.
Built as a private residence in 1868, the structure incurred major damage to the foundation, furnace, water heater and electrical system when its basement was filled with seven feet of water during the flood of 2005. It was flooded again three years later.
The house and furnishings were bequeathed to the Ohio Historical Society in 1942 by Mrs. Lillian Ruof Bimeler Sturm, wife of William Bimeler who was a descendent of Joseph Bimeler, a founder of the Society of Separatists of Zoar. There is a stipulation in Lillian’s will that no admission be charged to tour the museum, but until repairs can be completed, the museum remains closed.
So please stop by and support our efforts to repair the museum!
