5K Dandelion May Run
Join us for a scenic run through the beautiful hills of Amish Country. All proceeds from the run go to the Zachary Davis Memorial Foundation, an organization dedicated to bringing awareness to youth of the dangers of drugs. Money raised goes to not only bring awareness, but also to get addicts and their families the help and support they need.
Live music is scheduled for Friday and Saturday. Popular musician Scott Paris will begin at noon on Friday and The Weathered Road will be playing in the evening. Saturday morning folk singer Gary Lee will be performing. Saturday afternoon Acoustic Co will be playing and Saturday evening will be The Imaginary Cookies, a group from Canton.
Chefs from the area will be making delicious dandelion dishes with samples for the audience. They will also be talking about the healthful benefits and showing the many ways to use dandelions in cooking. Cooking demonstrations will be Saturday beginning at noon with Chef Sherry Schie from Shy Cellars. Chef Cameron Krahel will be cooking at 1:00 pm and Chef Matthew Ridgeway will be demonstrating at 2:00 pm. Carmel Haueter from Rainbow Connection will be our Mistress of Ceremonies.
Dandelion Picking Contest and Jelly-Making
Children should gather in front of the Tool Shed at noon. In this contest, children are unleashed on the hillside to see who can find the largest, smallest, longest stem and most dandelions. After the contest, kids use the dandelions they just picked to make their very own dandelion jelly!
